News from Bellingham

Thank you, Lyndsay, for setting up a Martineau family blog. I particularly like having links to all the other family blogs located in one place.

It will be interesting to see what crops up in the way of family news and history. It's nice to see Mom's recipes, and I have others if anyone would like to have them posted.

Lyndsay also suggested that this could be a way to send family letters, instead of e-mailing them as we have been doing. Except that we seem to e-mail them less frequently than we used to.

So, since it's been a while since I wrote a family letter, here goes.

We've had a lovely summer in Bellingham, with more sunshine and hot tempertures than we have ever seen here. We've taken advantage of it with lots of walks and more gardening than usual. The warmer weather also got Lindsay and Devin and me into good shape for our visit to Salt Lake, since we usually wilt when we hit Utah summer temperatures. Of course, this year it was cooler than usual in Salt Lake, so between the two, we had plenty of energy for swimming and walks and bike riding. Of course, it cooled down considerably for the family reunion at Lava, but that was OK too. It's alway heart-warming to see how our clan has expanded.

We did get out on our boat a couple of weeks ago but unfortunately, John hurt his back getting the anchor up, so we had to come back three days early. He's written about the highlights of the time we were out on his blog recently, so if you'd like to hear about the orcas we saw, and the sea otter, have a look at his blog.

Otherwise, it is family list time, so if you have any changes or additions to the list, please e-mail me in the usual way. I'm going to try to have it ready by the end of September, so don't dilly dally.

Lots of love to all, Aunt June
